Editorial policy & review methodology.
We aim to make company formation decisions more understandable without presenting marketing or online research as professional experience. This policy explains what our published evidence can—and cannot—show.
Who creates the content
Company Formation Offers is the publisher and author of our guides and reviews. Our editorial team covers formation research, tax and compliance, provider comparisons and publication standards. Author and verifier assignments illustrate the editorial workflow rather than completed personal review. A desk assignment or research date is not a certification of professional sign-off.
Our source hierarchy
- GOV.UK, Companies House and HMRC for statutory processes and general obligations.
- Official provider pages and terms for advertised packages, eligibility and fees.
- Regulators and protection schemes for product-protection explanations.
- Other publishers’ reviews for context, with their opinions kept separate from established facts.
A competitor’s review, customer testimonial or rating is not proof of current pricing, universal service quality or a particular applicant’s outcome. We do not reproduce third-party stories as our own experience.
How each provider review is researched
Each provider is assessed separately using its package pages, pricing and terms, with a provider-specific research date and source list. Reviews analyse banking fit, commitments, renewals, refunds and customer-feedback limitations rather than reuse a single generic verdict. We have not bought formation packages, submitted identity documents, opened the reviewed accounts, tested customer support or received referral rewards. First-person assessments refer to the research judgement, not to invented service use. We do not publish made-up test timings, star ratings or “verified purchase” claims.
How commercial relationships affect the site
Tide is featured partly because it pays referral commission, which affects placement. That is a commercial ranking, not a whole-market independent best-provider award. ANNA Money and 1st Formations currently use direct links. Fees, renewals and reward conditions are considered separately, and adverse suitability points are not omitted because an offer pays commission.
Dates, examples and changes
Source checks are dated and examples are labelled as illustrative. An example teaches a rule; it is not a customer case study or a promise about tax outcomes. Providers can change their terms between checks. Calculators show their assumptions and allow official dates to replace planning estimates.
Corrections and unresolved evidence
When a source conflicts with another source, current official documentation takes priority; uncertainty is stated rather than resolved by guesswork. A correction should identify the affected claim, update related pages and preserve a clear distinction between a price check and an expert review. To report a possible error, email contact@companyformationoffers.co.uk with the affected claim and supporting source. Notable website changes are listed in our website change log; price and promotion updates are tracked in the price changes log.
When professional advice is needed
Our content is general information, mainly for UK private companies limited by shares. It does not establish a professional-client relationship. Complex share structures, cross-border tax, insolvency, regulated activity and individual tax planning require appropriately qualified advice.
