My verdict

Rapid Formations is a strong contender for readers who want a conventional company formation agent with a low professional fee and a straightforward progression from basic registration to privacy and additional administration. Its package structure is relatively easy to understand, and the published notes identify important limitations that buyers should read before ordering.

My overall winner across this comparison is still Tide for an eligible founder setting up a straightforward company and wanting a business account at the same time. Tide’s subsidised formation price and conditional NEW200 promotion make a particularly attractive combination for that audience. Rapid is more relevant when you want an agent-led service, address options or greater separation between the formation purchase and the choice of account.

The Privacy package is the Rapid option I would examine most closely for a typical home-based founder. An address arrangement can be a more useful addition than promotional extras, especially when it is organised before personal information appears in public company records. However, the renewal price and mail-handling rules matter as much as the first-year inclusion.

The most important caveats are clear. The advertised packages use ordinary shares and do not offer multiple share classes. The first confirmation statement service excludes the Companies House filing fee. Banking introductions have their own eligibility conditions. Those details affect whether Rapid is suitable and what the business will actually pay.

This is a research-based editorial review of published information checked in October 2026. I have not incorporated a test company or independently timed the support service. The website compares selected providers and gives Tide commercial prominence; the recommendations explain where another provider may be more appropriate.

Understanding Rapid’s place in the market

Rapid sits in the specialist-agent category. Its central job is to help establish the company, provide formation documents and offer related services. That differs from a proposition built primarily around opening a particular business account, even though Rapid also introduces banking partners.

The distinction is useful for buyers. If your main need is a correct incorporation application and an address arrangement, an agent can provide a focused solution. If your main need is a daily business account and the company structure is straightforward, a subsidised formation-and-account service may be more economical.

Rapid’s package range should be evaluated against the work required. A low professional fee is welcome, but it is not the only relevant measure. The practical value may come from an address, a filing service or access to support when the process is unfamiliar.

Conversely, an agent is not automatically the right source of every service needed by a business. Formation support does not replace specialist legal advice, full bookkeeping, tax advice or sector-specific permissions. The package should be one part of a wider setup plan.

My approach is to identify the non-negotiable requirements first, then compare the smallest package that meets them. This avoids both underbuying an essential service and overbuying a bundle because its marketing suggests that every extra is necessary.

Basic: what the entry package is for

Rapid advertises Basic at £2.99 plus the £100 Companies House fee. The displayed components add to £102.99 before any applicable VAT not already reflected in the presentation or optional extras. Check the final VAT treatment in the order rather than assuming the headline establishes a universal gross total.

The package includes standard company formation, identity-verification assistance, digital documents and initial company records. It also provides access to a client portal and the service of filing the first confirmation statement, subject to the separate statutory fee discussed below.

Basic is most relevant when you have a suitable registered office and do not need a bundled address service. It can also be relevant when an accountant already handles the ongoing work and you want the incorporation arranged separately.

The very small professional fee makes Rapid competitive within the agent category. However, it does not make the entire incorporation cost lower than a subsidised option such as Tide. The government fee remains a major part of the price unless a provider explicitly covers it.

Before choosing Basic, confirm that its standard ordinary-share structure fits the business. If you need multiple share classes, bespoke investment rights or a more unusual arrangement, the low price is not a reason to proceed with an unsuitable application.

Privacy: a practical upgrade rather than a cosmetic extra

The Privacy package is displayed at £14.99 plus the £100 Companies House fee. It adds twelve months of London registered office, one service address and business address services to the basic proposition. Confirm the final tax presentation and any additional charges at checkout.

For someone working from home, this can be a meaningful upgrade. The registered office and director service address are public-facing company details, and many founders prefer not to use a residential address in those fields.

The benefit depends on coverage. Ask whether the included service address covers the individual you intend, whether extra directors cost more and whether the business address accepts the types of mail you expect. The three services should not be treated as identical simply because they use the same location.

The initial twelve-month period also needs to be understood. The company still needs a valid address after that period, so obtain the renewal price and cancellation terms before ordering. If you later move the service, arrange the replacement and update the relevant records before the old arrangement ends.

I regard Privacy as the most natural Rapid package to compare for a typical solo home-based business. It addresses a concrete requirement. Its value should be measured against equivalent address services elsewhere, not against the cheapest formation-only headline.

All Inclusive: useful additions, but read the boundaries

Rapid’s All Inclusive package is displayed at £39.99 plus the £100 Companies House fee. The published description adds services such as VAT and PAYE registration, a data-protection document package and a defined period of compliance support, alongside the address proposition.

Those additions may be useful, but they are not the same as full accounting. VAT registration does not mean every VAT return is prepared. PAYE registration does not mean payroll is run each month. A compliance service should be examined for the specific filings and events it covers.

The package also promotes extras such as meeting-room use. Their value is personal to the business. A founder who will use a London meeting space may appreciate the inclusion; someone operating entirely online from another region may not derive much practical benefit from it.

I would choose All Inclusive only after identifying which additional services are genuinely required. If you already have an accountant who will handle VAT and PAYE setup, compare whether the upgrade duplicates work included in that engagement.

The phrase “All Inclusive” should be read as the name of a defined commercial package. It does not mean every future filing, tax obligation, legal document or business cost is covered. The written scope remains the decisive reference.

Comparing the three main packages

PackageDisplayed professional chargeSeparately displayed incorporation feeMain reason to consider it
Basic£2.99£100Standard formation when you already have the required address arrangements.
Privacy£14.99£100Formation with public-address services for the introductory period.
All Inclusive£39.99£100Addresses plus specified registration and compliance additions.

The table reproduces the displayed price components rather than labelling them as guaranteed VAT-inclusive checkout totals. Optional services and later renewals can change the amount paid. Confirm the final order and retain the invoice.

The step from Basic to Privacy is mainly about solving an address requirement. The step from Privacy to All Inclusive is about additional work and resources. That is a more useful way to compare the tiers than assuming that the highest package is automatically the best.

A founder should also ask which features are introductory and which are permanent. A portal may remain available, while an address, phone service or other benefit may have a limited included period. Those distinctions determine the ongoing budget.

My preference is to compare two years of relevant costs if the company is intended to continue trading. An introductory bundle can be good value, but the normal service price should be acceptable before you become dependent on it.

The first confirmation statement: service fee versus statutory fee

Rapid explicitly states that the Companies House fee for the first confirmation statement is not included in its filing service. The published figure is £50, charged to the stored payment card when the first statement is filed under that service.

This is an important distinction because a reader could otherwise interpret “filing included” as “nothing further to pay”. The provider’s work and the statutory fee are separate components. The service can still be useful, but the company should budget the government charge.

A confirmation statement is also different from annual accounts and a company tax return. It is concerned with specified company information, not a complete statement of business finances. Buying assistance with it does not mean the accounting obligations have been covered.

Before the filing date, check the information that will be confirmed. Changes to ownership, addresses or other details may require attention, and the company should not approve information simply because a reminder has arrived.

If you intend to file yourself or use an accountant, clarify how to avoid overlapping instructions. The company should have one clear plan for the filing, with a record of who is responsible and how the statutory fee will be paid.

Ordinary shares and the limits of a standard formation

Rapid’s published notes state that the relevant packages form companies with ordinary shares and do not offer multiple share classes. This is a significant suitability point, particularly for businesses with investors or owners requiring different rights.

For a straightforward company, ordinary shares may be entirely appropriate. However, the decision should reflect the ownership agreement rather than the limitations of a cheap package. If the founders need different voting or economic rights, obtain advice and confirm a suitable route before filing.

Even with one share class, agree the number of shares and their allocation carefully. The figures entered in the application should reflect the intended ownership. Avoid treating share capital as a decorative field or choosing percentages without discussing their implications.

A shareholder agreement may also be relevant where several people own the business. Standard articles and formation documents do not automatically resolve what happens if someone leaves, a dispute arises or additional investment is required.

This limitation is not a reason to dismiss Rapid for ordinary formations. It is a reason to use it for the right type of company. A provider that clearly states a boundary helps buyers avoid an unsuitable purchase.

Address privacy: what you can reasonably expect

An address service can help keep a residential address out of specified public fields, but it does not make a company or its owners anonymous. Legal disclosure requirements still apply, and accurate personal information must be supplied through the relevant processes.

The registered office should be suitable for the company’s jurisdiction and for receiving official correspondence. A director service address is a separate concept. A business correspondence address may have different permitted uses again. Confirm each service individually.

Privacy is easier to plan before incorporation. If a home address has already appeared in public filings, replacing the current address does not necessarily remove every historical record. Do not assume that buying a service later completely reverses earlier disclosure.

Ask whether all intended directors are covered and how the service handles changes in personnel. A package advertising one service address arrangement may require additional purchases for a larger team.

Also consider the address in the context of customer trust. The company should describe its operating arrangements accurately. A virtual address can be a legitimate correspondence solution without implying that the business has employees or premises at that location.

Mail forwarding and the cost of using an address

The address itself is only part of the service. The company needs a dependable route for receiving and acting on mail. Ask how official correspondence is notified, whether contents are scanned and when originals are forwarded.

Business mail can create additional costs. Postage, handling, storage or special delivery arrangements may be charged separately. A founder expecting frequent correspondence should obtain a realistic estimate rather than assuming that an included address means unlimited free forwarding.

Check the rules for parcels, customer returns and signed deliveries. An address designed for letters may not be suitable for an ecommerce operation. If returns are central to the business, arrange an appropriate service specifically for them.

Keep contact and forwarding details up to date. A provider cannot deliver an important letter reliably if the notification email is no longer monitored or the forwarding address has changed without notice.

Before leaving the service, ask what happens to mail received after termination. Arrange a transition and update the relevant company records. Address continuity is a practical compliance issue, not merely a subscription preference.

Renewals: the cost that deserves its own decision

Rapid has a dedicated renewals page, which is useful because formation packages can include several services with different renewal arrangements. Review the relevant services individually rather than assuming that the original package renews as one unchanged bundle.

A domain, business telephone number, address and compliance service may each have a different included period. Some benefits may require activation through another provider. The order confirmation and activation terms should explain what happens when the introductory period ends.

Record the renewal date, normal price and cancellation notice for every service you activate. This creates a simple basis for deciding whether to keep it. An unused extra should not continue merely because it arrived with the original formation package.

For address services, consider the cost of moving as well as the renewal price. A slightly cheaper alternative may involve updating records and customer-facing details. For a telephone number or domain, continuity and control may also matter.

The first-year package should be affordable on its own terms, and the second-year services should remain worthwhile at their normal price. That is the standard I would use to judge value, rather than relying on the provider’s stated value of bundled extras.

Support and the client portal

Rapid advertises telephone support for the life of the company, along with other contact channels and an online client portal. Those features can be helpful for someone who wants an agent available after the incorporation stage.

This review does not independently verify waiting times or the outcome of complex support cases. Published availability is useful information, but it should not be transformed into a claim of guaranteed instant resolution.

The portal can provide a central place for company information and services. However, the director should retain independent copies of important records and understand which actions are free, which require a paid service and which need professional advice.

Before buying, ask a practical question about your intended setup. A clear answer about address coverage, ownership or renewal costs is more informative than a general promise of helpful support. Keep written confirmation where it affects the purchase.

Support is most valuable when responsibilities are clear. The agent can explain a process or perform an agreed filing, while the director supplies accurate information and approves the relevant decisions. A well-managed relationship avoids assuming that either party is monitoring tasks that were never included.

Preparing the information for your application

Start with a short formation brief: company name, jurisdiction, activity, directors, shareholders, ownership allocation and address arrangements. This ensures the application implements decisions already made rather than becoming the place where important choices are improvised.

For the company name, consider availability, sensitive words and possible trade mark issues. A name search does not establish that the brand is free from every legal or commercial concern. Check domains and customer-facing uses before committing to expensive branding.

For directors and shareholders, gather accurate details and make sure each person understands their role. If someone is supplying information through a message, have them check the final application before submission.

Prepare a clear description of the business for the SIC-code selection and later banking enquiries. The description should be consistent with what the company intends to do. Do not choose a vague activity merely because it appears to make an application easier.

Finally, decide which email address will receive official and provider communications. It should remain accessible to the company over time. A founder’s temporary personal address or an account controlled only by an external adviser can create unnecessary difficulties later.

Identity checks and Companies House personal codes

Rapid’s published package information includes identity-verification assistance and the Companies House personal code. Confirm the exact process for each relevant person and what documents will be needed before the application can progress.

The personal code should not be confused with the company authentication code. They have different purposes. Keep a secure record and share information only through appropriate, verified channels when there is a legitimate need.

Verification can take longer if documents are unclear or information is inconsistent. Allow time for every director or other relevant person to complete the process. The application may be simple, but it cannot move efficiently if one participant has not supplied what is required.

If you receive an unexpected request for identity information, verify that it comes from the provider’s genuine process. Use the official account or contact route rather than responding automatically to a message that appears urgent.

For overseas participants, check eligibility and document requirements in advance. The company formation route, identity checks and business account options may all apply different conditions. Confirm each element rather than assuming that acceptance by one organisation means acceptance by all of them.

From checkout to incorporation

Rapid’s displayed journey moves through choosing a name, selecting a package, checkout and payment, then identity and company details. That ordering makes it especially important to understand the package and eligibility before paying.

After entering the details, review them as a complete application. Check the exact company name, registered office, director names and share allocation. An accurate final review is more valuable than saving a few minutes at this stage.

The provider may contact you for clarification or additional information. Monitor the nominated email and respond promptly. If you need to change something, ask whether the application has already been submitted and what options remain.

Companies House then determines whether the application is accepted. The provider’s service can assist the process, but it does not remove the possibility of questions or delays. Avoid making commitments that depend on an unconfirmed incorporation date.

Once approved, verify the company number and public details, download the documents and confirm which additional services have begun. If an address or telephone service requires separate activation, complete that step deliberately rather than assuming it happens automatically.

Processing speed and same-day incorporation

Rapid describes ordinary applications as usually being approved within a short period after the necessary checks, subject to Companies House workload. This is a provider estimate, not a performance result measured for this review.

The published same-day service is advertised at £79.99, with an order cut-off of noon GMT on weekdays and an additional requirement for the relevant identity information by the stated time. Confirm the applicable conditions and final price before choosing it.

The distinction between placing an order and completing a verified application is crucial. A founder who pays before the cut-off but has missing information may not have satisfied the requirements for same-day processing.

Ask whether the expedited service solves the actual problem. If the launch is waiting for banking approval, a merchant account or a licence, faster incorporation may not shorten the overall timeline. It may still be useful, but the benefit should be specific.

For most planned launches, preparation is the more reliable strategy. Decide the structure, gather documents and allow time for questions. A rushed application can create mistakes that take longer to correct than the time saved by paying for speed.

Banking options and eligibility

Rapid offers introductions to several business account providers, but account opening remains subject to each provider’s approval. A banking introduction is not a promise that a particular account will be available to every incorporated company.

The published package notes restrict the standard banking offers to companies with UK-resident directors and shareholders. Overseas involvement can change the available route, with separate non-resident options described by Rapid. Check the current eligibility for the exact account being considered.

Compare accounts according to actual use. Look at incoming and outgoing payments, cash handling, card spending, international transactions, account access and accounting connections. A free monthly subscription does not necessarily mean every transaction is free.

If a reward is offered, read the conditions associated with that particular introduction. Application routes, deadlines and qualifying actions can differ. Do not assume that a promotion from another website can be added after choosing a partner offer.

A good account should work for the company after the reward period ends. For that reason, I would treat a banking incentive as a secondary benefit once the account’s practical suitability and ongoing charges have been established.

Documents, registers and control of company information

The formation documents should be checked and saved after incorporation. The certificate identifies the registered company, while the constitutional and share documents record important aspects of its structure. They are useful records, not evidence that every operational requirement has been satisfied.

Initial company records need to remain accurate as the business changes. If directors, ownership or addresses change, identify the related filing and recordkeeping requirements. A register completed at incorporation is not a permanent substitute for maintaining the company’s information.

Keep copies outside the provider portal. This makes it easier to share documents with an accountant or bank and reduces dependence on one login. Use secure storage and sensible access controls because company records may contain personal information.

Also retain the commercial paperwork: package details, invoices, renewal terms and correspondence about inclusions. These documents explain the service relationship and can be important if a question arises later.

The company should remain in control of its access arrangements. If an adviser submits filings, agree how authorisation works and how it can be changed. Good access management makes future changes of provider easier and reduces the risk of losing essential records.

What the package does not replace

A formation package does not replace a complete business setup plan. Depending on the activity, the company may need insurance, contracts, licences, data-protection arrangements, employment processes or sector-specific permissions before trading.

It also does not automatically provide ongoing bookkeeping or accounting. A company with a simple activity can still need organised records and timely tax work. Decide who will perform those tasks and budget for them separately unless the service is explicitly included.

Legal structure advice may also be outside the standard package. If the founders need bespoke rights, investment documents or an agreement governing their relationship, obtain suitable advice before relying on standard articles.

The same applies to tax decisions. How the company pays its directors, treats expenses or handles international activity depends on circumstances. General formation guidance is not a substitute for advice based on the business’s actual position.

Rapid can still be a useful provider within those boundaries. The goal is not to expect one low-cost package to do everything. It is to use the formation service for the work it is designed to perform and arrange the remaining support consciously.

A realistic first-year cost comparison

Begin with the displayed formation price components, then add any applicable VAT and selected extras shown at checkout. Next, list address forwarding, accounting, banking and statutory filing charges separately.

For Basic, a later address purchase may be the most obvious additional cost. For Privacy, renewal and mail handling deserve attention. For All Inclusive, identify which ongoing tasks remain outside the compliance service so that they are not omitted from the budget.

Include the first confirmation statement’s statutory fee if you intend to use Rapid’s filing service. Do not deduct it simply because the package includes the provider’s submission work. Treat annual accounts and tax returns as separate budget categories.

Promotional extras should be valued according to actual use. A free domain may replace a small purchase you intended to make, but it does not provide a complete website. A temporary telephone service may be useful, but its later price should be acceptable before you adopt the number publicly.

A fair comparison uses the same assumptions across providers. If one quote includes three address services and another includes none, the difference is scope. Add the missing services before deciding which route is cheaper for your business.

Year two and leaving a service cleanly

The second year should be planned before the first purchase, particularly if the company will depend on an address or telephone number supplied through the package. Introductory inclusions can become normal subscriptions, and those costs should not arrive as a surprise.

Review each service before renewal. Ask whether it is still needed and whether the business has outgrown the original arrangement. A company with more directors, more correspondence or a different operating model may need a revised service.

If you change address providers, ensure that the new arrangement is valid and active before ending the old one. Update the relevant records and inform counterparties where necessary. Do not assume that cancelling the subscription automatically changes Companies House details.

If you stop using a filing service, assign the task elsewhere. A cancellation should be accompanied by a clear responsibility transfer to the director, accountant or new agent. Otherwise the company can lose a reminder without realising it has also lost the person expected to act.

A well-organised exit is part of good value. The best service relationship allows the company to keep accurate records and move when necessary, rather than creating dependence through unclear access or renewal arrangements.

Customer reviews and how to interpret them

Public reviews can help identify patterns in customer experience, but they should be read in context. A review written immediately after incorporation may say little about address renewals or annual filing support a year later.

Look for comments that explain the service used and the issue resolved. A detailed account of how a provider handled a correction is more informative than a short statement that everything was excellent. Equally, a complaint may concern a separate bank’s decision rather than the formation agent’s work.

Review counts and ratings change, so this article does not use a fixed score as proof of quality. The comparison is based primarily on package scope, published conditions and suitability for different founders.

If support matters to your decision, contact the provider with a real question before ordering. Assess whether the answer is clear, relevant and consistent with the written terms. This gives you direct evidence about the interaction you are likely to need.

No provider will suit every circumstance. The aim is to identify whether Rapid’s standard structure and service model match your business, not to interpret a high rating as a guarantee that every application or later issue will be effortless.

Cancellation, mistakes and post-incorporation changes

Read the terms before authorising submission. The ability to cancel or amend an order depends on the work already performed and the relevant service. A formation order is not equivalent to an unused physical product that can simply be returned.

If you notice an error, contact Rapid promptly and explain the correction clearly. Ask whether submission has occurred and what process applies. Keep a record of the request and the response.

After incorporation, the company exists independently of the commercial order. It may still have filing responsibilities even if you decide not to trade. Do not abandon the company because the original business idea has changed.

Different changes require different work. Updating an address, appointing a director and changing share arrangements should not be treated as the same administrative task. Ask for the procedure, price and any wider implications before proceeding.

For a dispute, use the provider’s complaint route with the order details and supporting correspondence. A precise description of the agreed service and the problem is more useful than relying on a broad interpretation of a package title.

Rapid versus Tide

Tide is my overall first recommendation for eligible founders who want straightforward incorporation and a business account together. Its published £14.99 formation price includes the Companies House fee, while Rapid displays that statutory charge separately from its professional fee.

The NEW200 promotion can provide up to £200 after the separate qualifying actions are completed. It is not an unconditional discount on formation. The full Tide review explains the card-spending and savings-funding requirements, and the current partner terms should be checked before applying.

Rapid becomes more relevant when the founder wants a specialist agent, address packages or a formation arrangement outside Tide’s standard criteria. However, Rapid also has a structural boundary: its listed packages do not offer multiple share classes. Neither provider should be selected without confirming the intended ownership arrangement.

Tide’s support for additional directors should not be confused with support for multiple shareholders; its published formation information includes a single-shareholder limitation. That distinction can materially change the choice for a business with several owners.

Compare Tide’s NEW200 formation offer. For the right simple company, Tide remains the stronger overall value proposition; Rapid is a credible agent alternative when its service package better matches the requirements.

Rapid versus Mint and Your Company Formations

Rapid, Mint and Your Company Formations all compete on low professional entry fees and optional service bundles. The differences between their basic fees are small compared with the value and renewal cost of addresses or ongoing administration.

Mint is worth comparing if you prefer its support approach or want to investigate its broader accounting proposition. Your Company Formations is worth comparing for its package range and very low advertised Digital fee. Rapid’s relatively simple Basic, Privacy and All Inclusive progression may appeal to someone who wants fewer main choices.

The fairest method is to ask all three for the same specification. Include the number of directors, ownership structure, registered office, service-address coverage and expected business mail. Then compare the first year and the normal renewal year.

Check filing services carefully. Similar package wording may conceal different treatment of statutory fees, ongoing support and accountancy. An included confirmation statement service should be compared with another included submission service, not with a package that pays the government fee as well.

I would not let a difference of a few pounds decide the choice if one provider gives a clearer answer about the services you need. Fit, transparency and practical support are more important than winning the smallest professional-fee comparison.

Rapid versus 1st Formations and ANNA Money

1st Formations deserves particular attention if you are considering an accounting-linked package. Compare the accounting commitment and scope with the cost of forming through Rapid and appointing an accountant separately. Those are two different ways of organising the same wider business need.

If you already have an accountant, Rapid’s standalone formation route may be more relevant than a discounted package tied to another accounting service. Ask your accountant which formation tasks and address services they already provide so that you do not buy overlapping support.

ANNA is more closely connected to everyday business-account administration. Its appeal depends partly on invoicing tools, account use and the tariff that applies to incoming and outgoing activity. Rapid’s proposition is centred more directly on formation and associated company services.

A founder who wants to manage much of the administration through one app may prefer ANNA’s approach. A founder who wants to select banking independently while using an agent for incorporation may prefer Rapid. The decision should reflect the way the business will operate after formation.

Tide remains the overall winner in this selected comparison, but the alternatives serve meaningful purposes. A useful review should explain those purposes rather than forcing every reader towards the same service regardless of circumstances.

Three examples of where Rapid may fit

A consultant with an existing accountant

This founder may need only formation and a suitable public address. Rapid Basic or Privacy could be appropriate, depending on the existing address arrangement. There is little reason to buy accounting-linked extras if the accountant already handles the necessary work.

The founder should still compare Tide’s lower initial formation cost and account proposition. Rapid earns consideration through the agent service and package fit, rather than through the lowest possible subsidised incorporation price.

A home-based company with several directors

Address coverage is the main question. The package description includes one service address arrangement, so confirm the cost of covering the intended team. Also verify the ownership structure and ensure the ordinary-share format fits the founders’ agreement.

A clear quotation covering every director is more useful than assuming that a privacy package protects everyone automatically. The business should also agree who monitors official mail and approves filings.

A business planning different investor share classes

The standard Rapid packages reviewed here are not the right starting point because the published notes exclude multiple share classes. The founder should obtain appropriate structural advice and find a service that can implement the required arrangement.

This is a case where suitability outweighs price entirely. Saving a small professional fee is not worthwhile if the company is formed with the wrong rights and later requires substantial changes.

Your first month as a director

After incorporation, check the records and complete the operational setup. Open or finalise the business account, establish bookkeeping and make sure invoices and contracts identify the company correctly.

If Rapid handles mail, confirm that notifications work and that someone is responsible for responding. If it will file the first confirmation statement, record the arrangement and the separate statutory fee in the company’s calendar and budget.

Create a secure company records folder and retain control of important logins. Share relevant documents with the accountant, but avoid leaving the only copies in an external inbox or portal.

Agree how founder expenses and initial funding will be recorded. Money paid personally for the company should be documented and treated consistently with the accountant’s advice. Separating personal and company transactions from the start makes later records easier to manage.

Finally, identify the obligations specific to the activity. Formation does not decide whether you need insurance, licences, VAT registration or employment processes. A short launch checklist should cover those matters alongside the company administration.

Questions to ask before choosing Rapid

Ask for the final payable amount, including the treatment of VAT and any selected extras. Confirm that the intended ordinary-share structure is supported and that no requirement has been overlooked.

For Privacy or All Inclusive, request the address renewal prices, coverage for additional directors and mail-forwarding charges. Ask what happens to incoming correspondence if the service is cancelled.

For filing support, establish which tasks are performed, which fees remain payable and what information you must provide. Confirm how the first confirmation statement’s statutory charge is collected and how to coordinate with an accountant who may otherwise file it.

For banking, check eligibility based on every director and shareholder, not just the person completing the form. Read the account’s own tariff and any promotion terms independently.

These questions turn a promotional package into a concrete purchase. Once the answers are clear, the choice becomes much easier: you can compare the services you actually need and the costs you will actually incur.

Frequently asked questions

Is Rapid’s Basic package only £2.99?

That is the displayed professional charge. The £100 Companies House incorporation fee is added separately, and the final order should establish VAT treatment and any extras. Do not treat the professional fee as the full incorporation cost.

Does the first confirmation statement cost nothing?

The provider’s filing service is included, but Rapid states that the £50 Companies House fee is separate and charged when the statement is filed under the service. Budget it independently from the initial formation payment.

Can Rapid form a company with different share classes?

The published notes for the reviewed packages say ordinary shares only and no multiple share classes. If your structure needs different rights, obtain advice and use an appropriate service before incorporating.

Which package should a home-based founder examine?

Privacy is the natural starting point because it adds address services. Confirm the people covered, permitted uses, forwarding arrangements and renewal price. The right choice depends on the address requirements, not simply the package label.

Does All Inclusive include an accountant?

Do not assume that it provides ongoing full accounting. Its published features include specified registration and compliance services. Ask separately about bookkeeping, annual accounts, company tax, VAT returns and payroll operation.

Is business account approval guaranteed?

No. The account provider makes its own decision, and Rapid’s standard partner offers have residency conditions. Confirm the route for overseas directors or shareholders and assess the account’s own terms.

Can I form a company and leave it unused?

A company that does not trade can still have filing obligations. Incorporation should be a deliberate decision, and dormant-company requirements should be understood. Reserving a name through a company creates more administration than simply registering a domain.

Why does Tide rank above Rapid overall?

For eligible straightforward founders wanting a business account as well, Tide’s subsidised initial price and conditional NEW200 reward create a strong overall proposition. Rapid remains relevant where its agent service, address package or formation suitability better meets the reader’s needs.

My final recommendation

Rapid Formations is a credible specialist-agent choice for standard ordinary-share companies. Its low professional fee is attractive, and the Privacy package can address a practical need for founders working from home.

The important details are the separate statutory charges, address renewals and limits of the package. Read those alongside the headline price and compare the same service scope across providers. That produces a much more reliable decision than choosing the smallest advertised number.

Tide remains the overall winner for eligible straightforward formation-and-banking customers. Rapid earns its place as an alternative for readers who prefer an agent-led route and find that its package matches their requirements.

Alex Morgan

Alex leads our coverage of the decisions founders make before and during incorporation: choosing between sole trader and limited company, checking a company name, selecting SIC codes, allocating shares, appointing directors and recording people with significant control. Alex writes step-by-step guides that separate what the law requires from what providers sell as optional extras, so readers can see exactly what they need to pay for.
